The School Bell​

Who remembers one of the students ringing the school bell, summoning us to assemble on the parade ground?

Talking about blackboard dusters, reminds me of one of my primary school teachers. The mickey birds would sit in the trees just outside our classroom windows, and make a hell of a racket with their loud chirping, so our teacher would toss the duster at them. Then he would send one of us downstairs to retrieve the duster!

I had the job in primary school to ring the bell for 1 year that's not continuously for the whole year just at recess and lunchtime

The school bell I used to take turns ringing at our small country school was a big bell on a pole that we swung on a rope to ring. It was very loud and melodious. The country school I usually work at from elections still has one of these bells in the playground, which is still in use, and at least one person at every election tries it out.
