I purchased a chicken from a local Red Rooster store Christmas time (2023). Woolworths charge $12 a chicken just down the road, but weren't open that day. Red rooster charged $50 and the gravy was like brown water. Next Christmas I'm buying the chicken one day early ... at Woolworths ... and making my own gravy! Microwaves heat things up very effectively. One time where technology works. Just for info, the same store charged $100 for a turkey. The chicken wasn't larger than normal, nor I suspect were the turkeys.

We bought 4 chicken and gravy pies from Red Rooster at Booval last week. I can say the pies are nothing like one sees on the advertisement on the television. These pies had the smallest amount of chicken in them, with lots of gravy. Don’t waste ones money buying them .

And what about the gravy, it wouldn’t be made fresh daily. I can’t see four n twenty making these pies daily either, they would be mass produced, then frozen, then delivered by the carton full to the red rooster stores. Well, if you read the story properly it stated the pies are made from red roosters roast chicken, which is, “100% fresh, never frozen, and prepared daily by trained crew in local restaurants, ensuring each pie is filled with the best”. My comment was in response to this statement, I don’t believe this claim about the pies could be anywhere close to the truth. Maybe you just don’t have the ability to comprehend the written word in the stories printed on SDC, or don’t have the ability to relate people’s comments back to the story.

The trick is to heat food until it is just hot enough to eat, then eat it within a few minutes of warming. The microwave toughens the food when it cooks AND the food will CONTINUE to toughen when it is removed from the microwave. One needs to heat food immediately before consumption and to eat it before it completely hardens. With a few experiments one will learn how much time to heat the various foods. I find food from the fridge usually takes no more than 90 seconds. With frozen food, it depends on the mass, half a frozen pie probably at most 90s - I only eat half a pie nowadays. if you don't eat the food immediately ... throw it out!
