The Morning Show star Larry Emdur exposed: ‘This is diva behaviour’
- Replies 2
News shows have always filled the time between segments with light-hearted banter – it keeps the show from being too boring and these brief interludes keep us tuning in.
But viewers were surprised when TV host Larry Emdur completed an incredible feat live on-air, only to find out that the act was fake all along.
The hosts of The Morning Show, Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies appeared at the end of Sunrise to plug their interview with Daniel and David Huelett – trick shot artists who became popular because of their successful trick shots on social media.
Here are some of the Huelett’s TikTok ‘trick shots’:
After a series of successful trick shots, Larry proudly claimed he could easily complete one of the trick shots.
A clear fish bowl was held in front of the camera, and Larry crumpled up a piece of paper in his hands.
‘Looking at those guys, I mean how hard could it be honestly?’ He said.
‘I’m going to give this a go, ready?’
The TV host walked and kept his back turned away from the camera, and then threw the crumpled paper over his head. The paper landed in the fishbowl, causing Kochie to clap enthusiastically.
Kylie looked shocked and exclaimed: ‘It’s a miracle!’
The camera cut back to the Sunrise hosts, where Mark Beretta attempted to recreate Larry’s trick shot – but failed miserably.
‘Oh, you just missed it Beretts,’ Nat Barr said before turning to the viewers to say: ‘This is our recycling bin, and every day Beretts misses it, it’s hilarious.’
However, on Tuesday evening, The Morning Show posted a video on their Instagram page that showed how Larry ‘landed’ his trick shot.
‘Revealed! See how Larry REALLY pulled this shot off!’ The caption read.
While viewers saw the crumpled paper fly over his head and supposedly into the glass bowl, behind-the-scenes footage revealed that the balled-up paper flew over the camera and missed the fishbowl altogether.
A crew member stood next to the main camera (out of frame) and was shown holding an identical piece of the balled-up, and dropped it in at the right time.
You can watch the big reveal here.
Radio Host Ryan Jon joked around with the TV presenter and wrote: ‘This is diva behaviour, Larry Emdur. I’m calling the tabloids.’
To which The Morning Show’s social media handler replied: ‘Larry is the new king of fake news.’
A lot of fans also couldn’t help but take a light-hearted swipe at Larry’s ‘trick shot’.
‘All respect is gone,’ shared one.
‘Screen test fail,’ added another.
