The Miller’s maid Anna approaches her employer Sylvia, for a pay raise.
Sylvia, aware that she was already being paid considerably well and had, quite recently received an increase, reluctantly decided to discuss the issue with her.
SYLVIA: “Now Anna, why do you think you should get a pay rise?"
ANNA: "Well, madam, dere tree reason why. Firs' I iron better dan you."
SYLVIA: Taken by surprise, “Really, what makes you think you iron better than me?”
ANNA: “Your hosban he say so.”
SYLVIA:: Stunned, “Oh yeah?”
ANNA: Secon' reason “eez I am better cook dan you.”
SYLVIA: Agitated, “Is that so? Who said you were a better cook than me?”
ANNA: “Your hozban he say.”
SYLVIA: Now annoyed, “Oh he did, did he?”
ANNA: “De tird reason I am better lover dan you.”
SYLVIA: Now fuming, through gritted teeth, “And did my husband say that to you as well?”
ANNA: “No Madam… De gardener he say.”
(.....A moment of silence passes.....)
"So Anna... how much did you have in mind?”
