I remember once when our French teacher wrote a sentence on the board in French and the spelling of one word was wrong. I being clever (?) pointed it out to her and she was not happy to be corrected in front of the class, as your can imagine. I sat down feeling very foolish after the look she gave me.
The next time I did something wrong in her class she made me write out several verbs in French in the various persons versions.

If you were to say that in France to a French person they would rattle away in French and get you completely confused.
