This blast from the past was shared with an online group and taken in the Nullarbor Plain sometime in the 1970s. Many people related to the image, with some saying they crossed the plain’s vast expanse in their younger years.

‘I've crossed the Nullarbor four times. It's a great trip, but be prepared for the unexpected experiences,’ a commenter said.

How about you? Have you crossed this part of Australia? How did your trip go? Tell us here!

Yes we drove 2 times each way from Gold Coast to Perth with firstly a 10 month old and then a 2 and 4 yr old. Bumpy. Bulldust holes were probably the worst. We shared the driving so we didn't sleep on the Nullarbor. I wanted to put our car on a train after the first trip in 1974, but my husband wanted to drive. We damaged the suspension on our 1977 trip in a new Gemini. Lesson learnt the next time we flew over and back. Fun times 🤣

Before coming back to Perth after a lengthy stay on the East Coast, I travelled from Sydney to Perth via Melbourne & Adelaide, in my trusty purple Datsun 1200, which someone had rudely carved FU on the bonnet, with her high heal shoe.
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, I was getting low on fuel, & noticed a garage down a valley. Problem was, however, that at least 20 Bikies (not Bikers) were present - not a good situation. Barely made it to the next fuel stop, but avoided possible castration - who the hell would buy a purple car? - cheers Toad.

Yes l drove from Brisbane approx 14 years ago with my brother in his (you beaut, not), P76. This was a good trip but without air conditioning made for an uncomfortable trip. Windows down 🥵 & if we exceeded 45 MPH (not KPH), the passenger side mirror would turn into the car. If l had known l was in for that l'd have given the trip over there by plane & back in his car a big miss.

Drove over it mid 70's with my mum and brother. I actually ran out of petrol right in the middle.

Better road these days, we went across with caravan in tow and didn't have any problems. Even stayed on side of road in a rest area.
Wow! I can't for the life of me imagine driving through all of that vastness!! There's something that scares me about the thought of how open the area is :ROFLMAO:
