The bicycle is the slow death of the planet !!

General Director of Euro Exim Bank Ltd. got economists thinking when he said:
"A cyclist is a disaster for the country's economy:
He does not buy carsand does not borrow money to buy.
He does not pay for insurance policies.
He does not buy fuel, does not pay for the necessary maintenance and repairs.
He does not use paid parking. He does not cause serious accidents.
He does not require multi-lane highways. He does not get fat.
Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They don't buy medicine. They do not go to hospitals or doctors.
Nothing is added to the country's GDP (gross domestic product).

On the contrary, every new McDonald's restaurant creates at least 30 jobs:
10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself."
Choose carefully: cyclist or McDonald's? It is worth considering.
Walking is even worse. Pedestrians don't even buy bicycles.

Haha.. I remember reading something similar a few years ago around how cigarette smokers actually saved Medicare money because of how significantly their life span was reduced. Not sure if it was true though or just someone having a laugh.

I'm actually one of those cyclists you mentioned. I ride my bike to work instead of driving, and it's been a game-changer for me. I've saved money on gas and parking, plus I stopped paying for that pricey gym membership. And yeah, I've shed a few pounds and feel loads better. But I get it: bikes can be swiped, and that's a bummer. That's why I got myself some cyclist insurance. It's like a safety net for my two-wheeled buddy. It might not boost the GDP, but it keeps me rolling! Sure, McDonald's creates jobs and all, but being healthy has its own value. Less medical bills, a better quality of life – can't put a price on that. So, while it's worth considering the economy, I'll stick with my bike for now.
