Seems a very logical answer to me. ha ha ha

B.T.W Mother nature with the help of a couple of tins of asparagus, would wrap the key for delivery next day, no problem if a doctor wasn't around.

About eight years back, I swallowed a razor sharp-edged piece of glass, while downing a beer Friday night about 7pm at the Beach hotel in Byron Bay.

I knew immediately because of the taste and the way both hands clutched my chest, that the glass rim had gone in me. I was being ignored by the staff in a crowed bar.

With my hands grasping my chest I couldn't talk and didn't seem to be believed at all. I very angrily got them to write it down by pulling the barman by the collar over the bar towards me. He wasn't happy after that either.

I gingerly made my way outside with the unruly assistance of an arrogant bouncer with no interest in my dilemma and went to the local grocery shop and got two cans of asparagus, ate them and then very gingerly laid down on the beach clutching my chest for a couple of hours, as I didn't want it slicing me up, it was a tough night.

I was terrified as the glass had been drinking from had a thumb to finger wide razor sharp sheared off edge and I knew I must not move, or it could slash up my insides.

And yep, I saw it next day, it came out all wrapped up. It's a strange answer to a joke.

But if a situation like I had, where it is no joke. remember asparagus is my message.

The Beach hotel had ABSOLUTELY NO DUTY OF CARE and no interest at all in assisting me. Lucky, I knew about eating asparagus or I would not be typing this.

Pink Lion, I hope you had no lasting ill-effects from swalling a piece of glass. I wouldn't advise anyone else to carry out this method of getting rid of it unless there was no hospital or doctor available.

Thanks Reet, alls good. Its a case of you had to have been there in my situation to understand. I was EXTREMELY WORRIED that regurgitating it back up would have slashed my insides up very badly. I had heard that asparagus is the answer to swallowing sharp objects, so not wanting to move at all and my being in need of immediate assistance, I felt it was my only option.

I felt that cutting me open to retrieve it was the only option that doctors would have, however I have about a 10inch operation scar running up from my navel that goes through two levels of me as a doctor has put his hand in through my stomach in 1997 and cut a blood clot out (instead of using Chinese medicines) so asparagus to me was my only option because you can't cut through an old operation area as it couldn't heal.

I laid their most of the night freezing cold and trusted myself next day to drive to Mullumbimbi hospital and they said they could not find any abnormalities because glass is difficult to show up on x-ray.

A few hours later back at home, it showed up and I rang and told them.

If I had of got an ambulance to the hospital, I can pretty much guarantee I would have not made it, because they most certainly would not have considered asparagus and considering x-rays didn't see it, they would have just monitored me overnight and it could have sliced up a lot of things as that razor sharp glass rim worked its way through me. I agree my solution was radical, and definitely not for everyone mate, however in my case it was very well considered and that's why I had no internal injuries, life eh.
