The $4 Scrub Free BBQ Cleaning Hack!
- Replies 1
Australia Day is just around the corner, and nothing says Aussie more than a delicious BBQ on a sunny afternoon. Wouldn’t you agree?
However, particularly with anything coated in sticky marinade, you're left with a BBQ that looks like it’s been to war. Burnt on grease and thick grime. The very thought of scrubbing this stuff is enough to wear you out, and this is a day you’re supposed to find relaxing.
Thankfully, one chef from Adelaide is here to share with us the ultimate $4 product that makes cleaning up post-BBQ a breeze.
And the best part is, you don’t even have to do any scrubbing! Who knew cleaning grills and reading the paper could go hand in hand eh?

Leah Itsines, who previously showed us her way of cutting capsicums, is here to share her top BBQ grill-cleaning hack, featuring a $4.35 product from Woolies.
Posting on her Instagram Stories, the food blogger said that when taking care of her BBQ grill, she makes sure to always clean it right after use to avoid any food bits drying on the surface.
“While it's still hot or warm, I'll quickly get a lemon and scrub or use the BBQ scrubber to get as much off as I can, then wipe it down with a wet cloth,” said Leah. “I repeat when I heat it back up again to get any last bits.”
Then to finish the job, the mum revealed her favourite grill-cleaning product: the Ozkleen Oven Cleaner Power Kit which is available for $8.70 (currently on sale for only $4.35) at Woolworths.
To use the cleaning kit, follow the instructions below:
- Put on gloves provided in the kit
- Remove the cooled-down grills
- Make sure the cap on Oven Power is tight and then shake the bottle well
- Place the grills in the Closure Bag (measures approximately 100cm x 50cm)
- Pour the entire jug in (you can also add any greasy BBQ utensils inside the bag)
- Move the bag around gently to ensure that everything is evenly covered
- Place the bag in the sink/outside and away from benchtops or expensive furniture just in case of leakages
- Soak for 24 hours or leave overnight
- To remove, do not place hands inside the bag, instead, place in the sink with opening face-down and then peel back
- Squirt a few drops of detergent onto the grill and rinse with hot water
However, we must advise our members to use the product extremely carefully. Make sure to wear suitable eye and face protection and use the hand gloves provided, before and after using the product.
