yep, my early memories are much the same, my parents did not have a phone, so had to peddle your bike to a neighbor and use theirs, again an operator in the exchange got your number then connected you to that person, yeah, technogoly hey.

hello again, on that subject, of modern phones, back a number of years, used work outr in west n.s.w no mobile phones then, if need to make call, used to drive to the nearest property, some time several miles, and see if able to use the phone, if ok, the the system was a party line, meaning the single line was shared, and each property had a number code, yeah, how times have changed.
