Contact them by phone or email, ask them if they sent you a email they will be able to tell you immediately if they sent it, if they didn't simply delete it. Do not open it. It properly will contain a virus or give them remote access to your computer, trust me you don't want that.
If someone contact you by phone wanted remote access to your computer Do Not allow anyone access to the computer over the phone they will copy everything on your hard drive in seconds.
