Technical glitch on the Today Show leaves some viewers confused and concerned – was it sabotage?

As any loyal follower of the Today Show knows, the last thing we need first thing in the morning is more chaos in our lives. We're already trying to get ourselves organised for work or some duties like taking care of the grandkids – the last thing we want is added stress from watching television.
So you can imagine how viewers must have felt when, during this morning's 7:30 am news update, everything suddenly went haywire. As Alex Cullen was delivering the update, technical difficulties began plaguing the audio desk and soon enough, everyone was left without sound.
The show continued for one minute before it was replaced by a series of ads that played for five to 10 minutes. To make matters worse (or better depending on how you look at it), viewers were then treated to a pre-recorded episode of Talking Honey – hosted by none other than Shelly Horton herself!
David Campbell and Amelia Adams, who were filling in for Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon for the broadcast, cracked a fantastic joke about the situation after returning to the screen. They called it 'an act of sabotage' from the usual hosts.
'We are here doing you a favour and then you pulled the plug on us. So much so that we went to Nine Honey,' Amelia jokingly said.
David chuckled: 'Even though we look quite calm there are a lot of people behind the scenes at Nine who have been very frantic trying to get us back on air so we want to thank them for their diligence.'
Several viewers took to social media to express their confusion and concern about what was happening on their screens, with one user writing: 'What's happening on @channel9? No Today Show?'
Another said: '@TheTodayShow am I on the wrong channel? Why is 9Honey on my screen?? Have I missed something??? Changing channels!'
'Why is @TheTodayShow not on? Where is the news and what is “talking honey”?' a confused viewer asked.
Shelly Horton also joined in the discussion, quipping: 'So a few technical difficulties on @thetodayshow this morning meant they had to go off air and play @9honey Talking Honey! We made it to prime-time breakfast TV without having to get up at 3am. WINNING!'
The whole incident added a dash of humour to everyone's morning so we'd have to say it was everything that we could have hoped for and more.
