Tasty Toobs fans: Your favourite Toobs are back, but — “will have a slight variation”
The much-loved Tasty Toobs made its way back onto our shelves this year, but Smith’s — its manufacturer — has recently announced that the chips will have a "slight variation" in texture soon.

The snack was initially ripped out from the manufacturer's product lineup back in 2015 due to declining consumer demand, leaving Aussies devastated.

However, due to popular demand (unironically), Tasty Toobs made a return to the supermarket shelves after Smith's surrendered to the various campaigns rallied by fans.

Since they have become available again, the manufacturer has seen a huge spike in demand for the snack, frequently going out of stock on the shelves of retailers.

It was reported that Smith's was struggling to keep up with the demand, which forced them to make a huge change that has subsequently led to the shift in the texture of the chips.

In a bid to make the much-loved snack more accessible to fans, the manufacturer started producing them on home soil, with the first batch of Aussie-made packets hitting the stores in NSW and Queensland from Monday, December 20.

The Smiths’ factory said that whilst the Aussie-made product (the new locally made product) has a firmer bite, it will still have the same great Toobs flavour.

Smith’s owner Vandita Pandey said: “Tasty Toobs fans have been calling on us for years to bring the product back and it was a historic moment for us and superfans when they hit shelves again earlier this year.”

“With shelves clearing and everyone demanding more, we have started producing the product on home soil.”

She also said that splitting production between two locations will ensure the sustainability of stocks in supermarkets.

“Bringing Tasty Toobs home means we have had to adapt the product slightly in order to produce it locally,” Ms Pandey said.

“We appreciate that there will be a small difference in the product, however, this move is to support locally made products, local employment and to keep up with public demand – which couldn’t be more fitting for a nostalgic Australian snack.”

Ms Pandey also assured fans that Tasty Toobs will be a permanent offering from their product lineup, noting that the classic snack is "synonymous with Aussies".

“We’re excited to be bringing Tasty Toobs back on-shelf in full supply, with Australian made packets hitting shelves across NSW/Queensland from December 20.”
