My local Aldis have a big sign up above the checkouts saying there's a surcharge.
All you do is stick your card in and choose savings or cheque account. No surcharge. The other supermarkets don't charge anything.

Not everywhere charges surcharges. However, I got charged a whole 50c at a cafe last week! 😮
The worst people for surcharges have been Services NSW. They were charging on renewing licenses and registration and anything else they do online😕 but that was stopped on the 1st January👍

The UK banned surcharges in 2018 and here they're supposed to be banning them from 2026 after the RBA has done more research with the relevant people concerned.

Aldi have been doing this for many years now.. What ROCK have you been sleeping under?? They only got me once with that charge.! I always go over my invoice/receipt before leaving the store! I assume that you don’t do that either to make sure that you haven’t been overcharged for an item! Slow down for a few seconds and you find that it will be a very infrequent occurrence that you will be overcharged for an item!

Stop being so lazy and spend an extra 6 seconds and enter your PIN like me and the wife do!
Your second post in this forum and you're insulting the members!

I've just come back from the shops and ended up tapping which I didn't want to do. As I went to insert the dammed Efpos had already tapped

I thought EVERYBODY was aware of the fees on tap and go which applies EVERYWHERE. If we read the Conditions, Rules etc which is a part of all cards and bank accounts, we wouldn't be complaining about the obvious.

You have to on your guard all of the time looking for these inconspicuous charges hidden in the small print of some bland obscure sign in amongst other bits and bots. Businesses can make a small fortune off customers from these excessive charges.

They probably got tired of whingers who don't read their contracts. I put them in the same basket as those who click on this or that link.
With some of the terms and conditions, you need the time to read them, and you need a lawyer by your side. If you reject one, you are not given the services.
