Take a look at these three kitchen storage hacks using Kmart basics!

We can all attest to the fact that an organised and tidy kitchen is a happy kitchen. It's much easier to cook in a calm and stress-free environment, don't you think?

Unfortunately, keeping kitchens clean and tidy can be quite challenging, especially if we don't have enough storage space.

Oftentimes, this leads to cluttered counters and overflowing cabinets. Ugh!

But before you go ahead and invest in expensive organisational tools or hire a professional declutterer (they exist!), check out these three simple but genius Kmart kitchen storage hacks from home organisation expert The Monochrome Home first.

Not only are they very inexpensive, but they'll also help reduce clutter and mess in your beloved kitchen! Who knew such things existed?

First up: Kmart’s $8 Black File Rack.

This simple rack is useful for decluttering desks and tables by providing a space to neatly sort out files and loose papers.

But for The Monochrome Home, it can also be used to organise plates and other dishes!

‘You can use file dividers to organise and store your baking trays.’ they said.

‘This works well in cupboards and deep drawers.’

Up next: Kmart’s $2.25 2-Pack Tea Towel Holders.

The Monochrome Home didn’t really change things up with their Kmart Tea Towel Holder hack, unlike the file rack, they still used it as intended.

‘You can use these in the under sink to categorise and store your used cloths,’ they said.

And last but not least: Kmart’s $12 5L Smooth & Shiny Narrow Plastic Tub!

This tip is great if you hate it when your pot lids always end up askew when you store your cookware.

‘There are narrow tubs you can use to organise your pot lids. They are great because they take up minimal space and stop your pot lids from literally going everywhere.’ they said.

Unsurprisingly, many people were amazed at these simple kitchen hacks!

As of writing, The Monochrome Home’s TikTok post has over 40,000 hearts (likes) and hundreds of comments praising the tips.

‘I’m in organisation heaven,’ one user wrote.

‘Putting (these) on my list!’ another shared.

A third one even said she won’t be showing her mum the post! (Have we found the catnip for mums in TikTok, of all places?!)

Not to mention, these items will help keep your counters clean as well since everything will have its own designated place.

No more random lids and dishes taking up valuable counter space! Hurrah!

Now aside from organising in kitchens, it’s also important to ensure cleanliness as well.

Did you know that some kitchenware are magnets for dirt and germs? Find out what they are and how to clean them!

Good tip for the filing rack. I think the tea towel holder hack might become a haven for trapping dirt though, so will need cleaning often.
A few weeks ago, I decided to sort out the cutlery drawer. I was fed up with my standard cutlery organiser as it was a dud size.
So, I bought 10 plastic containers that fit like a jigsaw. Perfect!

Yes I’ve been using IKEA wooden racks to store chopping boards and oven trays. IKEA also sells a concertina rack so you can adjust it to fit wider things in.Makes it so easy. I agree about the tea towel holder- not conducive to good hygiene. The tea towel would take longe to dry when scrunched

How times have altered. My Mum had ONE drawer for her cooking utensils that each piece duplicated for another. I reckon us mods have proved over the years that we have far more choice with electricals, that we create work. Cleaning up seemed easier when I helped Mum back in the thirties.
It never took long, hand washing the few utensils that she was ready to go again on another cake etc. I adopted her routine for so long that I feel sure Mum's routine was right. WHY? Because I visited a lovely friend with a big kitchen (& I mean BIG) & she had ohhh, stuff everywhere. I told her she was busy & disappeared quickly after dropping a gift for her. I envisaged the clean up. Never judge a book by its cover though. All mod cons but even with a dishwasher she would still be cleaning up 'til bedtime. Friends, I do oodles of cooking STILL, & have friends who gift me things that have doubled up, but after reading our Ricci's plea, I am almost there too. I go back to Mum's way of thinking now. By the time I get all the electrics out of a cupboard, I can get the stove going & measuring up the ingredients in a flash. My friend sadly gone to her Maker had a bench with a line of switches that had everything hooked up with covers placed over every machine. It was my dream until.......Too late now. Do you know, with all these fancy gadgets I think now as having been there, done that, the old days weren't so bad after all. I've completely changed . OK when all the family was home, but today I've reverted to "silly simple" with all I still do, would you believe?
