Sydney CBD 1960s

I remember when I was very young whenever we went into the city We dressed up
I remember catching the Red Rattler train from Riverwood to Central then we would catch a double decker bus to George St, shopping at Woolworths, Waltons and finishing at Coles and eating in the cafeteria.
If only I could go back to 1969 and have just one more day in the city with my grandmother

It was such a good time - when people where still kind to one another-the energy was peace, calm & vibrant at the same time! I love the picture - we did the same thing in Perth, W.A. &
when we went to Fremantle, W.A. Your memory bought tears welling-for the ones that have
lived in that time & that are still here, it does take us back to good times. But we could still
have times that feel like this if the world could just pause & come back to thinking of one
another with kindness, emphathy, compassion, understanding, then we could feel/create the
energy of the 60's - the energy of peace & harmony within us. Thankyou for this pic-i love it!

I got goosebumps when I saw this photo. I went through it carefully to see if I was there because Sydney was where I worked in 1969 in a Shipping Company, took gloves to work, and always wore stockings and high heels.
We did have respect for each other and manners. Our boss was tough but fair and I really enjoyed working for her. The only downfall was when one became pregnant and started to show - you had to leave.
Imagine asking women to do that now.
I love Sydney but I now live in the country but try and get back there every now and then for a Manly ferry ride and a bus trip to the gap. When my grandchildren were younger we used to catch the early train from Goulburn - spend the day riding the ferries with fish and chips at Manly, then catching the train back to Goulburn and an hour's car trip home. They never tired of going and we now have 10 great-grandchildren (with two more coming soon) and I am sure they will love this adventure too!
Thank you so much for this picture - it has given me so many fond memories of that time and our following adventures to beautiful Sydney.
