Sweet comeback: Nestlé revives classic Aussie favourite

If you grew up in Australia, chances are you’ve got fond memories of clutching a brightly coloured Killer Python lolly after a hard-fought game of netball, footy, or soccer on a chilly Saturday morning.

For many of us, these chewy, fruity snakes were the ultimate reward for braving the cold and giving it our all on the field.

Well, get ready to relive those sweet moments—because the iconic single-serve Allen’s Killer Python is officially slithering back onto shelves!

That’s right, folks! After years of only being able to buy Killer Pythons in multi-packs (and let’s be honest, they just weren’t the same), Nestle has confirmed the triumphant return of the single-serve Killer Python.

Social media has erupted with excitement, with fans declaring, 'This is what dreams are made of!' and 'My life is complete.' It seems nostalgia—and a good sugar hit—never goes out of style.

For decades, Killer Pythons have been a staple at local canteens, corner shops, and petrol stations.

Many of us remember the thrill of seeing them lined up in open boxes at the local takeaway in the ‘80s and ‘90s, each one a rainbow-coloured promise of fruity goodness.

Whether you were a kid saving up your pocket money or a parent treating the grandkids, these lollies have a special place in our collective memory.

Nestle, which owns the Allen’s brand, has announced that the single-serve Killer Python is now available in a new 23-gram pack, perfect for a quick treat on the go.

You’ll find them slithering into leading petrol and convenience retailers across the country for a recommended retail price of $3.

So whether you’re grabbing a snack at the servo or stocking up for a road trip, you can once again enjoy that classic fruity flavour in its original, single-serve glory.

A Nestle spokesperson summed it up perfectly: 'Whether you’re grabbing a treat at your local servo or cruising down the highway for a road trip, this sweet serpent is packed with a fruity flavour punch and ready to coil up in your treat stash.'

Of course, some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that today’s Killer Pythons are a little slimmer than the ones we remember.

Back in 2014, Allen’s reduced the size of the iconic lolly from a whopping 47 grams to just 24 grams, citing portion control and health considerations. The new single-serve packs are 23 grams—so yes, they’re still a bit smaller than the 'giant' pythons of yesteryear.

Nestle explained at the time that the change was part of a broader move towards responsible snacking, with smaller portion sizes, resealable packaging, and responsibly sourced ingredients.

While some lament the days of the 'giant' python, others appreciate the more sensible serving size (and let’s face it, it’s probably better for our teeth!).

The world of lollies is always evolving. Earlier this year, Allen’s made another big change—swapping out the apricot-flavoured orange snake for a new passionfruit flavour, after research revealed apricot was the least popular.

The return of the single-serve Killer Python is more than just a win for lolly lovers—it’s a reminder of the simple joys of childhood, and the power of a little nostalgia to brighten our day.

Whether you’re treating yourself, sharing with the grandkids, or just reliving those Saturday morning memories, there’s something special about seeing an old favourite back on the shelves.
