Supermarket shelves empty as 8 million Britons unable to buy essential food items in last fortnight

According to Sky News, around one in six adults in Britain have been unable to buy essential food items in the last fortnight, representing up to eight million people - new figures indicate.

One source reported, "Meanwhile my parents had to eat cupboard food for dinner because their local Co-op looked like this:
