In a world where the cost of living seems to rise, finding value for money is more important than ever for Australian shoppers.
It's no small feat, then, that ALDI has again been crowned the king of customer satisfaction in the supermarket sector, according to Canstar Blue’s Supermarket Satisfaction Ratings for 2024.
For the seventh consecutive year, ALDI has proven that its blend of affordability, product quality, and shopping experience is a winning formula, leaving competitors like Walmart and Costco in their wake.
The German supermarket giant has maintained its stronghold on top positions and has also done so when every dollar in the grocery budget has to stretch further.
The supermarket scored a remarkable five stars across multiple categories, including value for money, fresh produce, deal and special availability, store layout and presentation, and the quality of its branded products.
Simon Padovani-Ginies, ALDI Australia Group Director, expressed pride in the supermarket's ability to serve its customers effectively, especially during challenging economic times.
‘Being credited as the only five-star rated supermarket for overall satisfaction shows our day-in-day-out commitment to delivering market-leading prices on high-quality goods is resonating with our shoppers,’ he said.
'Customers deserve great value for money and quality products when shopping for groceries, so this is a proud win for ALDI and our many Australian business partners who always aim to exceed the expectations of our shoppers with the excellent products on our shelves,'
Canstar Blue’s Editor-in-Chief, Christine Seib, highlighted the rarity of ALDI's achievement.
‘Canstar Blue surveys consumers to rate brands in more than 300 product and service categories on their own customer satisfaction levels, and brands that top those ratings for more than a year or two are rare,’ he added.
‘That makes ALDI’s domination of the Most Satisfied Customers – Supermarkets award for seven consecutive years not only an unusually strong performance from any brand but also a testament to its consistent delivery of what Australian customers want from a supermarket.’
The fact that ALDI has kept its five-star satisfaction scores in five key categories is impressive.
‘ALDI managed to do this at a time when customers’ budgets were strained by rising costs of living and competition between supermarket brands.’
‘To attract and retain those increasingly cautious shoppers was particularly high,’ Ms Seib continued.
‘In fact, Canstar Blue’s survey found that ALDI’s customers reported a lower weekly grocery bill than the customers of all other major supermarket chains.’
If you’re planning to shop at ALDI, they’ve just announced the return of The People’s Picks customer-voted awards, now featuring two new categories: Best Newcomer and Certified Gold.
Recent data reveals that 5.1 per cent more households are shopping at ALDI, and customer visits have risen by over 8 per cent in the past three months. You can read more about it here.
