Sunday Classics 27.04.2025
Hey members!
It's time for another Sunday Classic, and trust me, this one will bring back some beautiful memories.
Today’s song is a heartfelt throwback, requested by members @Reet and @StillEbby—Roberta Flack’s version of 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'. Released in 1973, this soulful ballad has touched the hearts of many, known for its emotional depth and Roberta’s stunning, smooth vocals.
Fun fact: The song was originally written and performed by folk singer Ewan MacColl in 1957. But it wasn’t until Roberta Flack’s stunning cover in 1972 that it became a major hit. It’s also famously featured in the 1971 Clint Eastwood film Play Misty for Me. And if that wasn’t enough, Roberta went on to win a Grammy for Record of the Year in 1973!
Such a powerful, beautiful song—what’s your favourite classic that always gets to you? Drop it in the comments, and we might just feature it next Sunday!
