Sunday Classics 06.07.25

Hey members!

We’re back with another Sunday Classic, and this one’s pure sunbeam energy! ☀️🕺

This week’s pick is ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves, thanks to member @ROD 53! Released in 1983 and re-released in 1985, this upbeat anthem is all about joy, confidence, and that invincible feeling when everything just clicks.

Did you know the song was originally written as a ballad? Yup! It wasn’t until the band turned up the tempo and added that punchy brass section that it transformed into the feel-good hit we all know—and dance to—today. It's been used in countless movies, commercials, and even weather reports. ;)

Go give it a spin—and tell us what classic you'd love to see featured next! Drop your picks in the comments!

Great song- they only had 2 hits in Australia according to The Book-which is packed with Top 40 information about songs, artists and how they placed on the charts. Katrina & The Waves other hit was a song called Do You Want Crying.

Well that put a smile on my face and it is a song that could never get old. Thanks admin.
I was listening to a beautiful love song, from Faith Hill, the other day titled "There you'll be."
It was the soundtrack song from the movie "Pearl Harbour". Not as bouncy as "Walkin' on sunshine" though.

One of my favourites. My best memory of this song was in 1991 or 1992 when I was participating in the City to Surf race in Sydney. A local band was performing it on a rooftop on the race route. A perfect song on a sunny day for those of us in the back of the pack.
