Sunday best

Who remembers dressing up in their Sunday best? It was a time when the girls would don their prettiest dresses, carefully chosen or made by Mum, complete with a white pinafore and crisp white socks. The boys were all suited up in their Sunday best, too, with smart trousers, shirt and tie, and polished shoes, ready to head off to church with the family. You don’t see this as much anymore. Do you have fond memories of looking sharp in your Sunday best?

Yes, I remember well. We also donned the hat and gloves - definitely don’t see much of that these days, unless you are of the vintage

All the girls wore a hat, when I went to Sunday School in the 1950's!

Patent black shoes, my brother wears a tie, I have a small hand bag and hat and my dress is chiffon overlay on satin petticoat. My penny is wrapped up in my hanky ready to put in the donation dish and we are ready for Sunday School

Every Sunday morning for Sunday School before being confirmed at 10 years old. I loved my hat, a white one, of course, with small flowers attached to the side at two ribbons floating from the back. I had to have patent shoes too !!!!
