Student rescued from mountain twice in four days — after going back to find his phone​

A 27-year-old Chinese student in Japan found himself in a perilous situation after being rescued twice from Mount Fuji in just four days. The first rescue occurred on April 22 when he fell ill from altitude sickness near the summit, losing crucial gear. Determined to recover his phone and other belongings, he returned on April 26 but succumbed to altitude sickness again at approximately 9,800 feet. A fellow climber discovered him immobile, leading to a second rescue. These incidents, occurring during Fuji's off-season, sparked public outrage and prompted authorities to consider stricter regulations, including entry fees and visitor caps, to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
