There's something strange and amazing about finding a time capsule when you move into a new home. It's like opening a window into the past and seeing how people lived - and how much has changed.
Finding a time capsule can be a bit like finding a needle in a haystack, but it's definitely a treasure hunt worth undertaking. You never know what you might find.
Such has been the case for one mum who accidentally unearthed a time capsule from 32 years ago, containing a collection of ‘strange’ items including a lotto ticket, a Virgin-branded condom, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figurine, and newspaper clippings from December 1990.
A business card for La Bettola, an Italian restaurant in Rozelle, Sydney, a Westpac transaction record, a Twinings’ tea bag, a flyer for a ‘zen meditation yoga’ studio, a band-aid, a stamp, matches, and coins were also included in the capsule.
Sharing the bizarre find to the Facebook group Old Shops Australia, the mum wrote: 'Time capsule unearthed in a backyard in Rozelle Sydney- it's only 32 years old - but what an eclectic collection!'

The post has captured the attention of hundreds of group members who admitted that they felt nostalgic after seeing the items.
One user wrote: ''It's amazing how much the world has changed even in just 32 years.'
Others found humour in the weird collection of items.
One person joked: 'Looks like he had a good date planned. $110 of Italian for dinner, cuppa tea and maybe some action afterwards. Seems like he was preparing for anything. Looks like it was an anticlimactic date though…'
'Virgin condoms…Oxymoron,' another said.
A third chimed in: 'I'm sure that Twinings would still be a good drop of tea.'

Some mused about the now-gone La Bettola restaurant and news articles from the paper.
One user shared: 'I remember going to that Italian restaurant, it closed around 2000-05?'
'The Chelmsford issue I still remember vividly the news reports,' another recalled, referencing the article written in the newspaper about the controversial issue on the psychiatric hospital.
Others wondered whether the original owner of the lotto ticket checked if it was a winner before placing it in the time capsule.
'Hope they checked the lottery ticket before it was wrapped up!' one person exclaimed.
It's fascinating to think about what people choose to include in their time capsules and what they were hoping to communicate to future generations. So, if you're lucky enough to find a time capsule when you move into your new home, take a moment to appreciate it. It's a rare and special thing.
Are you familiar with some of these items? Better yet, if you were to make a time capsule, what are the items that you would include in it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
