Prince William appeared as a guest in an episode of Time to Walk, a podcast series produced by Apple Music that encourages listeners to take a stroll for their physical and mental wellbeing.

Speaking to Time to Walk, the King in waiting revealed the three songs that he listens to while walking around Sandringham, the Royal Family's Norfolk estate.

The first track William named was The Best by Tina Turner.

Prince William said that the late Princess Diana would blast the song inside the car and sing along with her sons to help them cope with "the anxiety of going back to school".

The second in line to the throne said: “One of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I to this day still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner’s The Best, because sitting in the back seat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment.”

“My mother, she’d be driving along singing at the top of her voice. We’d even get the policeman in the car: he’d occasionally be singing along as well."

“We’d be singing and listening to the music right the way up to the gates at school where they dropped you off.”

“Because before that you’re lost in songs – want to play it again, just to keep that family moment going. And when I listen to it now it takes me back to those car rides and brings back lots of memories of my mother.”

The second song that has a lot of meaning to the 39-year-old Prince is Shakira's Olympic hit Waka Waka.

The royal father-of-three said that his children are currently loving the Shakira song, revealing that his eldest, Prince George, 8, and Charlotte, 6, "fight" over the playlist in the morning, while his youngest, Prince Louis, 3, chases them around the kitchen.

Prince William said: “One of the songs that the children are loving at the moment is Shakira, Waka Waka. There’s a lot of hip movements going along with a lot of dressing up.

“Charlotte particularly is running around the kitchen, in her dresses and ballet stuff. She goes completely crazy with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing.”

Finally, William revealed that the track he listens to the most to kick-start a dreaded Monday morning is AC/DC's Thunderstruck.

“It absolutely wakes you up, puts your week in the best mood possible, and you feel like you can take on anything and anyone,” the King in waiting said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Prince reflected on his time as an air ambulance pilot between 2015 and 2017, where he said that "taking home people's trauma" and "seeing patients and families ripped apart" impacted him.

One scene that makes him "quite emotional" is when a seriously injured boy was hit by a car.

“I went home that night pretty upset … inside, I felt something had changed," William said.

“I felt a real tension inside of me. I felt like the whole world was dying … I kept looking at myself, going ‘Why am I feeling like this? Why do I feel so sad?’”

The Duke of Cambridge said that the experience "still even affects me now".

Correction: Prince William is 2nd in line to the throne, his father Prince Charles is 1st and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth 11 is the current monarch, not in line at all!
