StarTrack slammed for outrageous hit-and-run caught on camera

We've all heard stories about the trouble of having to deal with bad customer service — you know, that feeling when something has gone wrong and no one takes responsibility for it?
Unfortunately, one man experienced the same thing by none other than StarTrack.
The catch: he isn’t even the customer in this story!
Alex Ross was shocked to find out that he was the victim of a hit-and-run when a StarTrack delivery driver hit his parked car, drove away, and then apparently never returned.
In a post on a Facebook group dedicated to Australia Post complaints, Ross said: ‘(I) lost/wasted 10 days of sitting on the phone trying to get Australia post to acknowledge and take responsibility (and maybe even apologise) for the action of their driver.’
StarTrack is a logistics company owned by Australia Post.
The video he shared in the group showed the StarTrack van backing out of a driveway and onto a road. Ross’s car was parked right across the driveway.
The rear end of the delivery van hit the front-right side of his car.
At this point, you’d expect the StarTrack driver to immediately check why his van was jostled by an impact from the back — but nope. Instead of even ducking his head out the window, all the delivery driver did was zoom away, perhaps in the hopes that his deed would go unpunished.
Tough luck for the errant driver though, as Ross caught it all on tape thanks to his security camera!
After watching the footage, many viewers were understandably displeased at the StarTrack driver’s conduct.
'This is a hit-and-run. Don’t stuff around with Star Track, take that footage to the police,' one member said in a reply to the post.
‘Call the police and let them deal, they will get action before you do,’ another added.
Following the uproar, a StarTrack spokesperson spoke to a news source about the incident.
’We sincerely apologise for this incident,’ they said.
‘These actions are not in line with the high service standards we expect of our people when delivering to the community.’
‘This service is performed by a delivery contractor, and they have confirmed their driver no longer performs deliveries on behalf of Australia Post.
‘We have contacted the vehicle owner to apologise directly and our delivery contractor is working with them to resolve the matter.’
So there you go! Australia Post and Star Track are aware of and dealing with the issue.
According to its website, Star Track will do its best to resolve complaints within ten business days.
Customers can reach Star Track at 13 23 45, through their online feedback form, or their email [email protected].
They also encourage people who are not satisfied with the resolution of their complaints to get in touch with ‘senior management’ by requesting a review through their escalation email [email protected].
Meanwhile, if by any chance you have car insurance coverage, it is recommended to contact the police immediately as vehicular property damage claims usually need police reports.
If the offending party sticks around, make sure to get their contact details and insurance information as these are vital in processing your claim. Take photos of the damage your vehicle sustained as well!
