St Patrick's Day ☘️

G’day, our lovely members! And a big Happy St Patrick’s Day to those who celebrate! ☘️

Did you know St Patrick’s Day has been celebrated in Australia for over 200 years? While it began as an Irish tradition, Aussies have long embraced the spirit of the day—whether it’s watching a parade, sharing a meal, or simply enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Did you get into the celebrations over the weekend? Maybe you have a favourite St Paddy’s Day memory or a tradition of your own? We’d love to hear about it!

Some years ago my late husband and I spent St Patrick's Day in IRELAND. We were staying with friends. He was the leader of the band and they marched?? from Cork to Mitchelstown. Later they took us to Ballyporeen. A group of us went out there.. The pub was so crowded that to order a drink you passed your glass along the line and your drink came back you paid the same way. All were happy with the process. Later we headed home. Most made it home safely but one couple were unlucky. They told us all that a tree had come out from the side of the road and hit their car causing so much damage bthey could not drive it home last night. TRUE STORY.

I'm from a strong Irish family and growing up we always celebrated St Pats Day 💚💚💚💚

Before hubby and I got married we had 4 kids.
My family kept pressuring us to get married. To me it was just a piece of paper
In the end we agreed, but was it actually our wedding ? My mother and grandmother tried organising everything and arguing with each other. My grandmother was the one who raised me, but my mother wouldn't back off.

So in the end we eloped and just had our two close friends there as our witnesses. ( mum wasn't happy)
We got married on St Patrick's Day, which was actually my mother's birthday.

This morning I sent her a huge bunch of flowers and hubby and I are going to get fish n chips and go see the sunset.

Next week we are going away for a few days to celebrate 🥳

My eldest Daughter was born on St. Patrick's day, and great granddaughter on 11th and son's Birthday on the 8th of March all special to me. Apparently I also have Irish ancestors.
