Spruce up your home for less with these budget-friendly renovation tip!

The dream of owning and personalising a home is a cherished aspiration for many Australians.

However, with the cost of living on the rise, extensive renovations could be out of reach for the average homeowner.

Still, homeowners and tenants can revitalise their places with small, cost-effective changes that pack a big punch.

A savvy Kmart shopper recently took the internet by storm after she showed how she gave her bathroom a stunning makeover for $26.50.

The transformation left fellow shoppers and DIY enthusiasts in awe and proved that homeowners do not need a fortune to achieve a fresh, new look.

Kirstie, the creative mind behind this budget-friendly renovation, shared why she made these subtle changes in her home.

'I got the idea from a DIY Facebook group where they had vinyl-wrapped their kitchen cabinets, and it completely transformed it.' Kirstie said.

She decided to apply the same concept to her bathroom.

'I'm loving the upgrade from bland white and beige,' Kirstie wrote in a post, sharing before and after photos on social media.

Kirstie did the entire project with several items she picked up from Kmart.

She used a Self-adhesive Film in Sage ($7.50), a three-metre Self-adhesive Tile Roll ($2) in the same colourway, and a two-pack of Large Oak and Gold-look Handles ($8.50).

These items let Kirstie inject a pop of colour and a touch of elegance into her bathroom.
Kirstie received several comments about the changes she applied to her cabinets.

'Great upstyle,' one commenter wrote.

'What a great difference. Beautiful,' another comment read.

Vault Interiors Property Styling Founder Justine Wilson also praised Kirstie's style choices.

'The sage green and gold hardware is really on trend, as earth tone colours are very popular such as brown, olive and sage tones, and rust or red tones,' Ms Wilson shared.

'The gold updates the bathroom and can tie into accessories such as vases or canisters to complete the look, as she has done with the green in the bathroom mat and soap dispenser.'
For those looking for a simple way to refresh their living space, products like self-adhesive tiles or film are a great option.

These items are perfect for temporary makeovers or for renters who want to add a personal touch to their abode without risking their security deposit.

These stick-on products come in a variety of colours and finishes, letting homeowners and tenants tailor them to their preferred designs.

Whether it's a wooden look, a tile look, or a wallpaper pattern, there's something for everyone.

Ms Wilson reminded tenants to opt for removable versions so the property could be reverted to its original state.

For those who swapped out their place's hardware, keep the original handles to swap back upon moving out.

The beauty of DIY projects lie in their simplicity and accessibility.

They're perfect for beginners and can be completed without a hefty investment or specialised skills.

With a bit of creativity and some budget-friendly finds, you can achieve a home makeover that's both beautiful and affordable.

It seems like a short-term option. I can’t imagine the self adhesive coverups would last very long in a bathroom with steam and water splashes etc. How would it stand up to repetitive cleaning?

Even if the adhesive has staying power, it looks like it would be dated quickly. May be appealing to some, but not for me.
