Small Beef Pies

There is nothing better than a hot meat pie on a winters day

I wanted to share my easy and delicious meat pie recipe

This makes 4 pies just double to make more or this will make 1 large pie

INGREDIENTS

500grams beef mince
1 onion finely chopped
1 tablespoon cornflour
1/4 cup tomato sauce
2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 sheet frozen short crust pastry thawed
1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed
Salt n pepper to taste
1 egg beaten

Method

1. Combine cornflour, water, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce and salt n pepper in a bowl and mix.

2. In a pan add oil and gently fry onion until soft . Add mince and stir, cook until brown.

3. stir in sauce mixture. Bring to the boil stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes , then remove from heat

4. preheat oven 200 C or 190 C fan-forced.
grease four small pie dishes .

5. Cut 4 rounds from the shortcrust pastry, I use the to of the pie dish as a template.
line bottom and sides with pastry.

6. Spoon meat mixture into pie tins.

7. Using top of pie tin cut 4 rounds from the puff pastry, cut slightly bigger than dish. Use as top of pie. Pinch sides together. Using a knife trim of excess.

8 Bake in oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden. Stand in dish for 5 minutes before serving.

NOTES

1. When browning mince you can add two chopped carrots .

2. When frying onions you can add thinly sliced mushrooms around 150 grams

3. Instead of adding pastry top you can substitute it with mashed potato before baking
