Why would you want to cook such a simple chicken meal for 7 and a half hours?? Ridiculous !! The idea of slow-cooking is to tenderize the meat. This chicken does not require such a slow cook. Good information from some of my hillbilly friends suggest that the slow cook method might be more appropriate for bush turkeys or emu.

Slow cooking is not just for tenderising. I have a daughter who has such a crazy busy life that a slow cooker has been the best thing. Throw everything in, switch it on and let time do its work. At the end of the day….dinner prepared! She’s also an amazing cook.

You don't slow cook to just tenderise it. Slow cooking us away of cooking , getting all those flavours in there. A bonus is you can cook in the morning and just forget about it and what a good feeling it is when dinner time comes and cooking is already done

Maybe try it and you will be surprised 😮

I'm guessing hdhensel has never used a slow cook.

I too love my slow cooker , sometimes I have energy in the morning and night time I'm zapped

Point taken

Surprise surprise - I DO have a slow cooker and I do use it, sparingly. Favourite dish is spicy goat (de-boning the meat takes some time) and there is also the odd Hungarian goulash. Nice flavours in the end but how many vitamins are retained by the vegetables? And how much fibre is left? And who turns the meat and veggies over while it is cooking all day?

It's a devil of a job
I was thinking , have you never cooked slow roast lamb ?.

I will cook a 10 hour slow cook either lamb shoulder or leg and when it's cooked it just falls off the bone

When you have cooked it how I do you won't want to have your lamb any other way. I've posted the recipe before

If you use a slow cooker then you should know you don’t have to turn the meat and veggies. And of course your going to retain all the vitamins etc.do you think they are going to do a runner.🤣I used one for years in my restaurant when I had one.

You don't need to turn the meat over

You don't need to turn them over necessarily

Didn't mean to press that "like". This person obviously knows very little about slow cookers.

Who eats goat let alone de bone your own must live in the outback or something.🤔
I always thought that the middle of the Gold Coast Hinterland was hillbilly or goat country especially after having to toss over $1000 worth of food last week. 13 days without power. The other problem I have with slow cookers is that they are best for families - not for singles (or even couples)
