Sleep your way to huge savings with this Aussie hotel's latest offer!

In a world where the hustle and bustle of daily life can leave us tired, sleep is a paramount reward we all look forward to.

However, sleep is more than just a reward after a long workday—it's an essential part of our well-being.

An Australian hotel found a unique way to encourage relaxation and reward guests for doing what they often struggle to find time for.

According to HTF Market Intelligence, the rise of sleep tourism could see the trend expand to a staggering $400 billion by 2028.

Fully embracing the new concept, the MACq01 hotel in Hobart started offering financial incentives to people who want to sleep.

The hotel's unique 'Pay by Sleep' campaign turned heads and encouraged travellers to hit the hay.

For every hour of sleep a guest logs over six hours, the hotel deducts $100 off their bill.

Those who manage to slumber for a full nine hours can enjoy their night's accommodation for free.

The promo also introduced add-ons to enhance guests' sleep quality—ranging from pillow menus to consulting sleep experts.

It's an enticing prospect for anyone feeling the weight of exhaustion and looking for a chance to catch up on some much-needed rest.

Danika Porter, MACq01's Head of Brand and Marketing, highlighted that 70 per cent of Australians see holidays as an opportunity to catch up on sleep and return home feeling rejuvenated.

However, she noted that a common occurrence of people feeling more drained after their supposed holidays.

'We're embracing the sleep travel movement to not only give guests a reason to slow down and reset some negative habits but also the most idyllic environment to do it in,' Porter explained.

'We're flipping the costly health retreat concept on its head and instead giving you the benefits and potential to stay for free.'

In line with this promotion, MACq01 collaborated with sleep expert Shea Morrison to curate the hotel's 'Slumber Suite'.

Designed to promote a restful night's sleep, the Slumber Suite has an array of features to ensure a good night's rest.

These features include:
  • Red lighting to encourage melatonin production
  • A selection of pillows
  • A weighted blanket
  • Optimal temperature control
  • A sleep-inducing menu and;
  • Bedtime stories to lull guests.
Recognising that people often need an extra hour of sleep during the colder winter months, MACq01 also tailored a package that emphasises rest.

This innovative approach to hospitality is not just a win for weary travellers; it's a testament to the evolving nature of tourism.

It's a refreshing change from the typical holiday experience that can sometimes leave us tired.

So, if you're planning a trip to Tasmania or need an excuse to prioritise your sleep, consider booking a stay at MACq01.

The elderly would look at the $100 discount and wonder how much the room would cost if they didn’t get the sleep they needed. They are not the type to go clubbing at night.

Is that $100 off per night? At $281 a night for the King Room, seems a bit pricey.

Just one question. How is your sleep monitored? A hotel employee watches you in your room? Have a EEG connected to your skull? CCTV? Raises some privacy issues.

Yeh would be interesting how they know how long people sleep for.
I would assume its for people who have a smart watch which monitors your sleep. My watch tells me every day how many hours I've slept plus the type of sleep and how many times a night I wake. I find it difficult to sleep more than 7 hours though so probably wouldn't get my moneys worth.
