Simple plant pot upcycle using an 'unlikely' Kmart item: "Cute!"

An Aussie mum shared a simple way to make your pots look better by using an unusual item from Kmart.

Giana Zotti showed on the popular Kmart Hacks and Decor Facebook group how she made a beautiful planter pot out of a discarded yoghurt container and cheap pyjamas that sold for $5.

Crafters who are looking for an ideal modest project to work on might consider repurposing an old pair of pyjamas that have seen better days.

Giana used a pair of owl print pants that she ripped while climbing a fence for this DIY project. Instead of throwing it away, she decided to upcycle it into a lovely planter pot.

She explained how she drilled holes in the bottom of a yoghurt container and then used spray adhesive to attach the fabric around the outside.

People could not get enough of the DIY idea, with one person commenting on how talented the mother was and another stating that the idea compelled her to rush to the nearest Kmart.

Some members were slightly sceptical, with one asking if the fabric would get wet and "go yuck" whenever she waters her plant.

Giana responded by stating that the holes on the bottom help, and that when she waters the plant, she is cautious not to get the fabric wet.

However, some more helpful members of the group mentioned that there is actually something that can be placed over the fabric in order to make it waterproof.

One person recommended using mod podge and added that PVA glue can also be used nicely; all she needs to do is dilute it with some water first. Someone else suggested that she look into purchasing a spray that can turn any material into one that is waterproof.

Others picked up on the fact that Giana had mentioned that she had been scaling the fence while wearing her pyjama pants, and they pushed her to elaborate on her story.

One person inquired, "In what situation did you find yourself in your pyjamas jumping a fence?" while another person followed with: "We're going to need to hear the rest of that story."

The mum eventually caved in and admitted that it was a bit of a funny story.

She recalled she was attempting to take a shorter route by jumping over the fence, but it didn't work out. So she got stuck at the top and since she was too scared to jump, her PJs were ripped in the process.

She concluded her story by saying she will not "make the same mistake twice."

Do any of you have any pairs of old pyjamas that are too worn to wear and are just taking up space in your wardrobe? It seems like now would be a wonderful time to finally put them to good use!

I just watched that pair of hands turn some pj's into a dress. Why does it look so easy when someone else does it, and yet it turns out to be a complete dogs breakfast when I try?;);):rolleyes::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I feel your pain, I have always had so many ideas for clothing that I know will look great on me but do not have the talent to make myself, Not being able to even sew a button on is how I describe my lack of talent in dressmaking, Dream on Gaena !!
