Shoppers witness violent brawl break out in Woolies deli

If you ever thought that shopping at your local supermarket was about as safe as it was convenient, then this story will be eye-opening.

Recently, a Woolworths customer in NSW was going about their weekly shop like any other time when something unbelievable happened right before their eyes.

Believe it or not, it's not just the rising prices causing a stir at the supermarket these days.

An unsuspecting shopper, who had slipped into the store to pick up a single toothbrush, found himself thrust into the role of a recorder of the shocking scuffle amidst the aisles.

As if merely witnessing such a spectacle wasn't jarring enough, the brave shopper managed to capture much of the kerfuffle on camera; however, the footage was cut short when an astute Woolworths worker swatted the camera away.

The chaotic scene, featuring a group of approximately half a dozen men, played out alongside the meat section of the deli, with the spectacle attracting plenty of onlookers. It's safe to assume these folks got much more than their grocery list items—perhaps a compelling story to take back to the grandkids or an unexpected adrenaline rush?

Despite their seeming helplessness, two Woolworths workers were present at the scene, with one of them appearing to report the incident on her phone.

As per the video, the scene took a rapid and intense turn. It showed one man clad in a red jacket rushing in from the left and unleashing a series of punches towards another individual's head.

Amid this chaotic scene, the recording shopper accidentally bumped into a Woolworths worker, who, on turning around, noticed the ongoing recording and swiftly intervened to halt the filming, adding another dramatic layer to an already intense situation.

Humorously, some video viewers speculated on what led to this unsavoury scene, with one conjecturing it was a contest over the elusive last roast chicken.

Regardless of the brawl's cause, the sight of what appeared to be middle-aged men squaring off against younger folks certainly raised some concerned eyebrows.

The incident has been reported to the police, and Woolworths has confirmed its awareness of the situation. While shopping can sometimes be an ordeal, especially when trying to remember that elusive item you’ve forgotton, these incidents are strikingly rare.

Key Takeaways

  • A violent brawl involving several men broke out next to the meat section of a Woolworths store in NSW.
  • The incident was captured on video by a shopper and showed two helpless Woolworths employees witnessing the incident and one of them seemingly reporting it on the phone.
  • The cause of the fight remains unclear, with onlookers and commenters on social media speculating about possible triggers, including competition over the last available roast chicken.
  • Woolworths has confirmed its awareness of the incident and reported it to the police.

These public displays can be pretty unsettling. After all, grocery trips should be as relaxing and delightful as a lazy Sunday afternoon.

I'm thinking this is over more than the last chicken.
This fight happened at The Seven Hills plaza store near Blacktown.

There was an even bigger brawl at the Tamworth Woolworths store beginning of June involving two women , things went flying off the shelf literally 😳

I have witnessed in the chip isle, cake section and meat section, people hurrying to beat other shoppers to the marked downs and near empty shelves, rudely jostling someone out of the way to get them. If this altercation had of happened in the front of the store or just outside it I would have suggested that it was deliberate to attract everyone’s attention away while a colleague walked out with items unpaid for which is quiet common

I'm just have a laugh at all the people who stood there or who came over to gork like a bunch of monkeys - sorry but they just add to the problem. And customers, you don't need to pull out your phones and try and record he incident. REMEMBER shopping centres have their own camera's to record this stuff to hand into the police. And their camera's will catch everything (before - during - after) of the incident and not just half of it.

These sort of altercations frighten the life out of me. Why can't they grow up and act like mature adults. 🙄
Possibly because they are under the influence of something or there are debts owed or any manner of things - in a world of their own, with its own rules - scary real life movie style stuff - always just be aware when out and move on if something starts (the staff will have already called the police) - the innocent should not be hurt! when these pple who are driven go to town! & in a food shop no less!! take it outside but they can't as rage has already taken over, that is why it can be so dangerous, with no concern for the bystanders or shoppers!

Of course you are above all the "gorking like monkeys", pretty much everyone does this so spare us from trying to make yourself seem superior in some way.
And why should the other customer not be able to record the footage ? How many times have we heard that the security cameras "weren't working" or were "not switched on that day" ?
Perhaps one of the people involved in that brawl may need that footage if it went to court.
The Woolworths employee was somehow showing a kind of misguided loyalty to her employer hoping that the incident would be brushed under the carpet, but in the process all that does is cause a "Streisand effect".

It's a jungle out there.
I was abused by a not so nice lady because my wonky trolley bumped into her trolley.
Could have been guns raised at 40 paces, but I'm a sook and ran with the speed of a thousand gazelles. Some folk just have the need for nasty. Sad times.
Tragically, if it was America, it could have resulted in a massacre with semi automatic weapons 😔
