Shoppers go wild over Coles deal: '10 boxes for $30'

We Aussies love a bargain; there's no denying that. And if there's one time of year when we get especially excited about saving money, it's during the Christmas period.

So you can imagine the frenzy that recently erupted among Coles shoppers when an online special offered up heavily discounted cans of soft drinks – just in time to stock up for all the parties and gatherings that come with the festive season.

The deal, which was available until Tuesday, 29 November, offered two Kirks 10-can boxes for $14.80 instead of $10 per box – that's almost half price! Those who are Flybuys members also received an additional saving of $3 per box, bringing the price down to just $4.40 each.

There was also a Black Friday deal code at checkout that gave several customers an even bigger discount!

Due to different state container deposit schemes being available in some states and not in others (Victoria and Queensland were not included), the exact savings varied between regions. But either way, it was still a pretty sweet deal!

So it's no wonder hundreds of savvy shoppers rushed to grab it while they could – many stocking up for Christmas following a huge spike in soft drink prices of almost 70 cents per litre since early this year.

In fact, some people even claimed they ordered 10 or more boxes while they had the chance! Talk about being prepared…

Several happy customers went to the Facebook group Markdown Addicts Australia to share their hauls. One mum said, 'We are set for Christmas for our large family and New Year's Eve, which is also my daughter's 16th. Used the code Black Friday for $20 off plus got the Flybuys $3 off per box.'

Unfortunately for several customers, as stocks began to sell out everywhere, they were only able to get a portion of their order, if any at all. Some customers even claimed that others were 'hoarding' and taking advantage of the deal by buying in bulk several times.

Even though many customers had their orders cancelled, there were still those who were hoping to take advantage of the online sale before it officially ended. Several also admitted they kept going back to different stores hoping that supplies would eventually be restocked.

While the offer is already long gone, don't worry, Coles promises that more amazing deals and offers will be coming during the holiday season. We are looking forward to it!

When my hubby visited his uncle in the States he had all these coupons that he cut out each day from catalogues . Hubby was surprised how little his uncle actually paid for groceries.

Can't our supermarkets give us these coupons too.
