With meat being more expensive than before, I choose more carefully. The container of meat gets turned upside down and viewed from all angles. But if this piece of fat was purposefully hidden that's a nasty selling trick. Yes, you can take it back, but if you discover it whilst making dinner, it's not always feasible.

Cheap arse Woolworths looks like their quality control is shit and prices well inflated 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
 
Woolworths outsource their meat supplier for chopping, weighing, packs. However, they are responsible. I've contacted them before about a chicken pack not being 500gr in weight. Head office told me they are allowed a small variance of 0.030kg. They also said the soaker pad is excluded from being weighed and the advertised weight should be exclusively the meat as it is weighed on the product line. My pack weighed 461.9kg, so they said it should have been rejected and not sold. They also contacted their meat supplier to inform them.
They gave me a refund due to their 'fresh or refund' guarantee, plus a $21 egift card.
I've never had an issue since with this particular pack of chicken pieces.
Since Covid, Woolworths sourced local meat suppliers in every state for their stores, as the borders were shut. I believe they are still doing this.

This is what happens when woolies close down their local butchery sections around the country and get it cut and packed by external companies. Woolies will be screwing these external companies for lower costs so quality control goes down the drain.
 
Disappointing maybe, but hardly devastating. I cant see why this large chunk of fat wasnt noticeable through the original packaging. It was not a large tray. Take it back to the store and get a refund. End of story, move on. Mishaps happen, even to those with good intentions.

The meat and other products are outsourced so who knows putting in some fat makes more money =extra weight where as in store butchers are no more so the meat comes from somewhere this also occurs with other products so beware just take it back for refund but it shouldn’t happen

This is a problem we now face with pre-packaged meat. I prefer to go to an independant Butcher and buy my meat because I can see exactly what I am purchasing. No hiding fat under the cuts of meat
 
Sh*t happens, get over it. No-one is perfect and I seriously doubt this was done on purpose. When you see how many thousands of meat trays are prepared each day it's no surprise that there is the odd mishap. You never hear of the millions of happy shoppers with their meat trays being exactly what they thought they were buying. ;)
 
I live in a rural area & I would not be happy, as my "local" Woolworths is over 30kms from me (65kms round trip) & it would cost me heaps in fuel to return it.
