Shockingly Disgraceful: Couple Sparks Outrage After ‘Shocking’ Engagement Stunt

Engagements are a special time in any couple’s life, and many go out of their way to make it memorable. Some like to do something simple and private, while others like to go all out and make a grand statement.

However, one couple from Sydney recently made a statement of a different kind when they pulled off a ‘disgraceful’ engagement stunt on a popular Sydney beach.

Apparently, they had set up a proposal at popular Balmoral Beach on Sydney's lower north shore, a location known for its stunning calm water, white sands and breathtaking sunsets.

But photos and videos have emerged of the beach littered with plastic flower petals, sharp stakes and zip ties, only metres away from the ocean.

One outraged local posted to a Facebook page and asked if anyone had spotted the pair or captured a photo of the proposal on Sunday afternoon.

‘They left behind all of their trash, hundreds of plastic rose petals, sharp stakes sticking out of the sand and zip ties everywhere, just metres from our beautiful ocean. What a way to celebrate love, hey?’

‘Nature is not just your background, it is a living being that needs care. We are LUCKY to experience life in a place that is so beautiful, but it only stays that way if you don’t make it worse with your presence,’ she said.

‘If you are going to enjoy it, take some responsibility and don’t trash it. It’s really not that hard.’

The woman's post was quickly met with dozens of comments from other disgruntled locals who slammed the couple's actions.

‘So unacceptable and disgraceful,’ one person added.

‘This is disgusting, and I hope they receive a fine. Plastic rose petals shouldn’t be produced in the first place. What a waste.’ another commented.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only example of beach-goers damaging the environment and leaving behind mountains of garbage.

‘There was a large group taking wedding photos. They were there a while and were eating McDonald’s. When they were done, they just got up and left all their half-eaten food and rubbish behind,’ he said.

Key Takeaways

  • A Sydney couple has been slammed online after leaving a mess of zip ties and plastic flower petals behind at a popular beach following their proposal.
  • Many locals expressed outrage at the couple's behaviour for leaving behind the rubbish and suggested that companies who set up proposals should be held to a higher standard with respect to their impact on nature.
  • The incident serves as a reminder to take responsibility for the environment and not to contribute waste to any natural environment.

We here at SDC would like to remind everyone to be respectful of the environment, no matter where you are. It’s important to remember that it is everyone’s responsibility to keep our oceans, beaches and parks clean and appreciate nature's beauty without damaging it.

Marriage proposals shouldn't come at the cost of nature. Let’s ensure our actions don’t negatively impact the world around us and instead celebrate our special moments responsibly and sustainably.

Let’s clean up after ourselves and be mindful of how we use the land, especially in public places.

And this is why alot of places in Sydney including beaches and parks you need permission to take wedding photo's.
And some you also need to pay and this is probably the very reason you need to both get approval and pay.

As for the proposal Al I can say is ....bloody disgusting. Respect our parks and waterways
