Shocking moment Today weatherman stops looters in their tracks as they target flood victims

Times have been undeniably tough in recent years. Aside from the COVID-19 pandemic, Australia’s rental crisis escalated, grocery prices have reached a record high, millions of hard-earned dollars have been lost to scammers, and Aussies are now at risk due to the recent Optus data breach.
Just when we thought it was safe to come out again and pick up the pieces, along comes another curveball.
We’re sure you’ve all seen the devastating flooding that has ravaged parts of Australia over the past few days.
Even amid all the chaos, greed still heartbreakingly took over sympathy for some.
In Melbourne, a group of looters tried to target residences that had been flooded. But fortunately for the residents, help was on hand in the form of Tim Davies, a weather presenter for Today.
Davies and the camera crew were setting up for a live cross to Today host Ally Langdon when he spotted a group of masked men rushing out of one of the homes and sprinting towards a parked vehicle.
‘As I got out of the car, I saw one of these guys fly out of one of the homes behind me here... They knew we were the media and here to tell the stories. We had cameras to show what's happening here at the moment.’ Davies recalled.
‘I knew something wasn't quite right with these guys, they had faces covered with COVID masks and hoodies on. When we arrived with the crew, these guys were in a hurry to get out.’
‘These guys are obviously up to no good… It's a sickening sight to see people doing that sort of thing here in the streets of Melbourne early this morning. These residents are already going through so much.’
Davies immediately contacted the police, who then raced to the scene, got in touch with the homeowners, and are now investigating the alleged incident.
The weatherman claimed that he was told the homeowner was away for the night to celebrate his wife's birthday. They were temporarily staying with their loved ones as their home was uninhabitable.
The crew returned to the property only to discover that it had been allegedly stripped clean of the family’s possessions – including the children's iPad as well as household items.
‘The upper level, where they thought was safe and dry, was completely ransacked.’ he said.
‘The kids’ iPads, all sorts of toys, and electrical equipment were cleared out this morning. Looters at a time like this? These people are absolute sc*mbags.’ Langdon sneered.
‘So the family this morning were really grateful to still be able to have some photos left but gutted about the way things are. People are at their lowest point and have lost everything. Some still think it is a moment to come in and exploit them - I hope the authorities catch them and lock them up.’ he continued.
Premier Daniel Andrews touched on the case, describing the act as ‘poor behaviour’ during ‘very difficult times’ for countless Victorian families. He also urged witnesses to step forward.
‘Victoria Police and the Assistant Commissioner stood up the other day and made it clear that there is zero tolerance from Victoria Police to any of that sort of behaviour.’ he said.
It’s difficult to comprehend why anyone would think to do something so disgusting and cruel. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by the floods.
