Shocking footage reveals dangerous stunt pulled by a Woolworths truck driver

Road safety is important for travelling, moreso for commercial drivers who carry our daily needs.

A recent incident has raised serious concerns about road safety and the responsibilities of delivery drivers.

In a heart-stopping turn of events, a dash cam caught a Woolworths truck on video doing a dangerous turn that nearly ended in a catastrophic accident on a busy Sydney road.

The chilling footage shows the Woolworths-branded semi-trailer on Carlingford Road in Sydney's west, veering across the median strip into oncoming traffic.

The large truck's sudden swerve forced a small ute to quickly move out of the way, narrowly avoiding a collision with a police vehicle in the adjacent lane.

The driver's presence of mind and a stroke of luck prevented what could have been a devastating crash.

However, the danger was far from over.

The police vehicle executed a swift U-turn, halting traffic as it pursued the Woolworths truck.

This alarming event sparked a wave of reactions online, with the footage spreading across social media.

It also opened the increasing pressure on delivery drivers and the potential risks this incident poses to public safety.

'Crikey! About time a cop was in the right place at the right time,' one comment said in relief, highlighting the fortunate timing of the police.

'I dread getting stuck in the middle lane in my tiny car with big trucks either side of me,' another shared.

In response to the public outcry, Woolworths has stated that their trucking partner has already launched an investigation into the incident, emphasising they take this matter seriously.

The driver involved was revealed to be a subcontractor from Toll, a carrier partner for Woolworths.

'We understand this would have been a very concerning situation for the oncoming driver,' a Woolworths spokesperson said.

This is not the first time a Woolworths truck has been at the centre of a traffic incident.

Last week, a driver from Melbourne caught another Woolworths truck on camera hitting and dragging a parked car near a store.

These incidents remind drivers of the importance of road safety, especially when it comes to heavy vehicles.

The potential for damage and injury is significantly higher with trucks, and it is imperative that all drivers, particularly those operating commercial vehicles, adhere to the highest standards of road conduct.
