A full load of aviation fuel goes BOOM a lot bigger than a plane with little fuel in the event of a runway incident on landing.

They clearly did the right thing to turn around as they don't make the decision lightly but it inconveniences every other passenger who is travelling for a reason and some possibly have connecting flights that they then miss. It would be irritating in the extreme for all of them, but safety comes first. It seems to be a more common occurrence these days which is disappointing.
