Shocking at-home accident lands Natalie Bassingthwaighte in hospital

Singer and actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte recently experienced a terrifying incident at her home in Byron Bay, which resulted in a rushed trip to the hospital.

This unfortunate incident is a stark reminder of the potential dangers in our homes and the importance of maintaining a safe living environment.

The star sustained a severe injury to her wrist after accidentally cutting it on a piece of broken glass from a picture frame.

Natalie, known for her roles in popular shows like Neighbours and her successful music career, shared her ordeal with her followers on social media.

From her hospital bed, the 48-year-old revealed the details of her accident, explaining that she had to rush to the emergency room due to the absence of open GPs in Byron Bay on a Sunday night, February 4.

‘I’ve ended up here because I cut my wrist. I’m tired,’ she said in the clip while trying to remain upbeat.

‘Happy Sunday.’

Despite the distressing situation, Natalie managed to maintain a positive attitude, assuring her fans that she was okay and thanking them for their concern.

‘I decided to do a little video because I’m getting so many messages asking if I’m OK. I am OK. I’m very tired, but I’m OK. Thank you for your concern,’ she said.

‘I did end up in emergency because, in Byron, there are no doctors or anything open on Sunday nights. I cut my wrist on a glass picture frame that had a crack in it.’

‘Anyway, I got straight in, and they put anaesthetic in it, which killed. A lovely doctor cleaned it up, made sure there was no glass in there, and put a little glue on it,’ she continued.

The incident also led to another consequence, which she shared before offering a quick disclaimer.

‘I can’t shower, no I can shower, get it wet for a few days.’

‘So I just sat in a bath, and my daughter washed my hair, which was quite lovely. But thank you for all your concerns. I am OK.’

Accidents happen in unexpected places at unexpected times—and can lead to shocking discoveries.

For one, a traveller who tripped her wrist during a holiday abroad was quoted over $15,000 for hospital bills.

While she was happy to pay for it herself, she decided to check with her insurance company first. What she received in response left her exclaiming ‘Wow!’ in disbelief. You can read more about the story here.

You could shower if you put a plastic bag over your arm and sealed it so the water wouldn't get in. Just be careful and have your daughter stand by for managing the taps.

When I had my right wrist fused I had to wear a plastic bag taped over it in the shower. Only one problem I found the only place I couldn't wash using my left hand, was my left arm.
