Shocking accident sends Aussie star to hospital after unexpected injury

Life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it, and for one well-known Aussie figure, a recent incident took a sudden and frightening turn that ended in a hospital visit—leaving many shaken.

Support and concern quickly poured in as the news spread.

Isabelle Cornish, best known for her roles in Puberty Blues, Home and Away, and the Marvel series Inhumans, shared her harrowing ordeal on social media, warning her followers about the dangers of everyday mishaps that can quickly become life-threatening.

Isabelle’s ordeal began when she attempted to climb over a stake fence—something many of us have probably done at some point, whether chasing a runaway pet or taking a shortcut.

But in a split second, things went horribly wrong.

‘I tried to get over a fence like this, slipped and got a stake to the right upper abdomen, pulled myself off the stake with my hand and sliced my hand open,’ she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of herself in a hospital bed, wounds clearly visible.

The accident left her with a stab wound to her abdomen, a badly cut hand, and internal bleeding.

She spent several days in hospital undergoing tests, receiving stitches, and waiting for surgery on her hand, which had to be delayed due to the severity of her injuries.

‘Few days in the hospital, tests, stitches, some internal bleeding that stopped, my lungs back to normal size and liver ok all good,’ she updated her followers, showing her trademark resilience and positivity.

Isabelle didn’t mince words when it came to the lesson she learned: ‘Moral of the story: do not mess around with those stake fences… They are no joke.’

It’s a timely reminder for all of us—especially as we get older and perhaps a little less nimble—that everyday obstacles can pose real risks.

Whether it’s a garden fence, a slippery step, or even a loose rug, accidents can happen in the blink of an eye.

For those who’ve followed Isabelle’s career, her ability to bounce back from adversity is nothing new.

Raised in the Hunter Valley, she shot to fame in 2012 with a breakout role on Home and Away before going on to star in films like Sea of Fire and Australia Day.

She’s also appeared in the hit series Nine Perfect Strangers, with the new season premiering soon.

Isabelle’s not just an actress—she’s a published author, yoga teacher, personal trainer, and health coach.

Her 2022 book, The Why: Healthy Habits For An Epic Life, is a no-nonsense guide to wellness, focusing on positivity and self-compassion rather than fads and quick fixes.

Her resilience was also on display during her time at SAS Australia, where she pushed through a broken hip before being forced to withdraw.

‘I absolutely love doing challenges like that,’ she said, showing the same determination that’s helped her recover from this latest setback.

Isabelle isn’t the only star in her family—her older sister, Abbie Cornish, is an acclaimed actress in her own right, with credits including Somersault, Bright Star, and Sucker Punch.
Abbie also raps under the name Dusk, proving that talent runs deep in the Cornish family.

Isabelle’s story is a powerful reminder that accidents can happen to anyone at any age.

We wish Isabelle a speedy recovery and thank her for sharing her story so openly—it’s not easy to talk about these things, but it can help others avoid similar mishaps.

I ran an angle grinder with a diamond blade into my tummy one day while working at an aged care centre.
I asked a nurse for assistance, and she said "Sorry, I'm not that kind of nurse" Luckily my wife was working there as DDON, she took action and got me to a hospital.
Luckily I never hit anything vital.

My husband planed the top of his fingers off when were were putting the floor boards down on our first home.
Holy cow ... I thought he had hit an artery the amount of blood that came gushing out.
In the end, nothing vital was chopped off. He just spent the rest of his life with fingers that had been given crew cuts and were straight as an arrow.
