Shock of his life: Woolworths delivery driver held at gunpoint

Content Warning: This article mentions sensitive topics involving violence, such as armed robbery and gun violence, which may be distressing for some readers. Discretion is advised.

Here at the SDC, we always like to remind members that safety should always come before everything else.

That’s why we’re saddened to hear about a Woolworths Delivery Driver in Perth who was terrorised and held up at gunpoint outside one Woolworths store.

A Woolworths delivery driver in Perth had the shock of his life at 5:10 am on Saturday, 18 November, when a 26-year-old man allegedly threatened him with a gun in the car park outside the Woolworths Thornlie Square store.

The police then claimed that the man hopped into the driver's grocery truck and went on a joyride around South Perth, confronting two civilians on the way.

The police were able to track down the truck in the Greenfields area near Mandurah at 6 am, and the robber was taken into custody as he failed to evade them.

The driver has been given a paid leave to recover from the experience.

A spokesperson from Woolworths said, 'We are very grateful that our driver is safe, and we'll continue to support him following this frightening incident.’

‘We are assisting police with their investigations.'

The suspect from Maddington is facing nine charges—including aggravated armed robbery and an unlicensed person possessing firearm/ammunition. He is set to appear in court at a later date.

Safety should always be your priority whenever you’re on the road. In a previous story, a 91-year-old grandfather recently experienced a nasty road rage in Perth.

As he drove into a car park and stepped out of his vehicle on Westive Parade, he was met with a motorcyclist who allegedly abused him verbally before assaulting him. You can read more about the story here.

We wish the driver a speedy recovery and hope that this incident serves as a reminder to us all to be more cautious and vigilant when out and about.

If you or someone you know is facing an emergency, contact your local police station or dial 000. You may also contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

Hope that the gun wielding bloke gets a long jail sentence.....thankfully these types of events don't occur too often in our Country, following PM John Howards gun laws after the Port Arthur horror event in 1996, apart from the Drug traffickers of course.

I just wish the judges had the guts to say to a thug, with a gun, "mate I'm giving you 10(?) years, and that'll only change, if you play up, and you'll get more added." NO DISCOUNT on what you have been given!!!!
