Question 1: When was the Leaning Tower of Pisa completed?

Nativism is a philosophical theory which holds that the mind is born with ideas or knowledge, and that some skills or abilities are 'native' or hard-wired into the brain at birth rather than learned. This is in contrast to empiricism, which emphasizes the role of experience and evidence in the formation of ideas.

Q1: Was poised over the right answer. Knew it took nearly 200 years to build. Remember reading that when we had a family holiday there in 2006. Q6: American TV - Who cares? Bad guess. Q8 - PM Page may have lasted 19 days, but Forde only lasted 7. However, Forde was not in the selection.

Interesting that I was an election monitor during the first elections in South-West Africa/Namibia in November, 1989. I was a part of the Army's mission there to stop the warring factions when I was selected. As an Australian military officer, I was placed in charge of protection/security of the station. Scariest days of my life (apart from anything to do with security of my wife and kids).

The temporary polling station was set up in a school outside a kraal in Onamutai. The head of the station was a UN 'Diplomat' (read spy) from the USSR. His name was Yuri. We had other UN people there, some UN military police (Ghana) and some UN civilian police (Canada and Singapore) as well as some South African 'observers'. Yuri and I did not get on as technically Australia and the Soviet Union were at war. We really did not like each other but he later admitted that he respected me (another story if you read my books that will be published this year).

On the night of 8 November 1989, all 13 of us were sitting around listening to the shortwave radio and the BBC World Service announced that the Berlin Wall would be coming down the next day. I knew it spelt the end of the Soviet Union as it was already decaying. Being a bit of a young smart-arse, I turned to Yuri and sarcastically said, 'Well, I guess this is going to put you out of a job!' Yuri looked at me with daggers in his eyes and gave the standard answer in his accented Russian, 'This is typical propaganda from the Vest [sic West]'. He got up from the group and stormed into the accommodation hut.

All that to say, I knew the answer to Q9.
