Nevertiki, I definitely agree with your responses regarding Qs 2 and 9, but I felt the question regarding the chameleon was not appropriately worded as there were two possible answers.

The volatility of the plasticiser used, the chain length of the polymer, the amount and effectiveness of antioxidants and antiozonants used, and the prevailing conditions.

I have witnessed old "singlet" style plastic bags disintegrate in under 12 months in the outdoors in a temperate climate. The answer of "500 to 1000 years" is an arbitrary figure based on extrapolated data generated by accelerated aging studies.
