SCAMS

Hey everyone. sorry. don't know anything about this tech stuff.
1/ There's a scam from flybys. got the correct No. on screen, saying you haven't used your card for so many months. only cause I just used mine a few times recently and cause it didn't say anything about 5x deals. I am NOT at all tech savvy but watch out Please.
2/Another scam from Australia Post about wrong delivery details.
3/ Another 1 coming from Melbourne Link Toll. something about owing them money for an unpaid toll. I don't drive and live in S. A. SO, I knew that 1 was a Boggie.
4/ SO- called scam protection-named (aMcfee) something about web protection. I have my own PC man who does all this for me so DON'T be fooled.
DO hope everyone gets this. I actually have NO idea about tech stuff.
I tell ALL my people, if the email does NOT give their name (even if they send a name of a portal) (whatever that is) I will NOT open it. that is how me being dumb doesn't get caught.
I might know who they are supposed to be from, but 1 company sent me an invoice with some name I didn't recognise, I rang my support worker. she confirmed who it was BUT then she sent them an email FROM me, telling them my request. all good for a while, then they revert back to being lazy. I tell them, your working for me, getting paid by the NDIS. DO your job, or I'll get somebody else. BE FIRM. We have paid our taxes, we DESERVE some RESPECT. Yours With Sincerity Taurie

Hi Taurie,
I get a lot of these scam notifications also.
I live in WA so no tolls here.
As far as the NDIS goes, the portal is where you can request payments, update information, etc with regard to your NDIS plan.
I self manage my daughter's plan so this is a convenient way to get reimbursed for expenses, however if you don't self manage then unfortunately it requires a lot of phone calls.
As bad as trying to deal with Centrelink.
The money in your plan goes a lot further when you self manage as you can hire your own providers and negotiate your own rates.
Have a nice day 😀

@mylittletibbies I used to work with NDIA, the call centre for NDIS. It looks like the service has gone downhill in the last 5-6 years which is a shame. Callers were always surprised and grateful that wait times were a small fraction of that of Centrelink.

Yes,glad I'm capable of self managing, it makes life a lot easier.
Having been a secretary in my early life and then managing
my own business makes it a lot easier, but fully understand it is hard for others.
I guess they are understaffed like most government departments.
I have no complaints myself, all claims are paid within 24 hours and although more money would always be good I am extremely grateful for what my daughter receives.

Self managed or nominee managed plans are the only way to go. Having an external plan manager is dangerous and open to rorting and are sometimes administered under the guise of a "religious" organisation. I am pleased you have control of your daughter's funds.

I delete any communication including phone calls that are not identified or appear in my contact file.

For months, I received texts from Telstra (supposedly) telling me that my McAfee protection was about to expire. I have never had McAfee, & I just kept deleting them. Then I got fed up & reported them to Telstra. If this is ongoing, it looks like Telstra hasn't done it's job to protect it's customers.

I got a scam letter supposedly from Telstra wanting me to confirm my details to get 90% off my account. Who would get that much reduction off their bill? They must think we are completely stupid to believe such an email.

You would be surprised....especially now the pressure is on with the cost of living.
Some people will be driven to accept anything.
