Scam / Fraud

Email from ESTELL saying thank you for your purchase and your PayPal account will be debited $499.00. My husband received this and he does not have an PayPal account. I rang PayPal and they confirmed that it was a scam and said DON'T CLICK ON ANY LINK
The main thing to look for is:-
PayPal always use your name when they send you emails
ESTELL wrote dear (my husbands email address )
and PayPal employees don't use their personal identity to send account holders emails.
Cheers

I knew an Estell once, her actual name was Estells Cam. I had to get rid of her as I was spending too much money on her and getting nothing back in return.

Got the inspiration for this from Alfred Hitchcock, I have every episode of his TV series and watch one or two every morning.
"Now that that is out of the way, I bid you Good Day"

I loved watching that show when I was a kid!!

I got the email. I dont open anything I dont know. I would never use PayPal anyway.
Scammers are getting good at what they do, but eventually they get caught up with.

Everyday this week still getting email suposed to be from Woolies asking me to verify my account or get free 25 piece Tupperware set. They just don't give up regardless

I got an email from myGov telling me that ‘I’m eligible to receive a refund in the amount of 640.35 AUD with a registration date 06/14/2024. This refund is rightly yours’ etc and to follow the link….If you get an email like this don’t follow the link, just delete it…Scam…

Yep tell straight away. Two things just shout at you.
These are all thanks to the various data breaches over the last year.

Got this one Supposedly from ATO today.

We're holding your refund.

1.) Click here to lodge your pending activities.
2.) Check and update your banking information.

So obviously a scam as I haven't worked for the last 22 years and couldn't possible be owed anything by the Tax Office.
