Say goodbye to these McDonald's favourites and hello to exciting new snack options

It's no secret that when it comes to fast food, McDonald's is easily one of the most popular choices, especially for those looking for a quick and convenient meal on the go. But we're also aware that keeping up with new food trends and changes to popular menus is an essential part of running a business.

That said, it’s now been confirmed that the global fast food chain is shaking things up and adding four limited-edition McCafe items to menus across the country as of Wednesday, 19 April.

McDonald’s Australia has confirmed that it is adding four new menu items, and these limited-edition options are now available across all restaurants nationwide.

Customers can get their hands on a BBQ, Bacon and Cheese Toastie, Banana Bread with Blueberries, Apple Crumble Muffin and Double Choc Muffin.

However, it will remove two fan favourites to make way for the new snacks – the Mud Muffin and Blueberry Muffin will no longer be available.

It is understood that the Banana Bread with Blueberries will replace the Blueberry Muffin, and the Double Choc Muffin will replace the Mud Muffin.

Additionally, both the BBQ, Bacon and Cheese Toastie and Banana Bread with Blueberries will only be available for the next six months.

The BBQ, Bacon and Cheese Toastie is made with sourdough bread, melted Aussie jack cheese, house-grilled BBQ sauce and rasher bacon. Meanwhile, the Banana Bread with Blueberries is made with locally-sourced bananas and blueberries.

The Double Choc Muffin is described to be ‘hand finished’ with dark chocolate drizzle, while the Apple Crumble Muffin is made with apple chunks and also hand finished with crumble pieces.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s Australia revealed that the fast food chain is excited to bring the new McCafe items to its customers.

‘We're excited to see what customers think of the delicious new additions to our McCafe menu,’ the spokesperson told reporters.

They added: ‘McDonald's is always listening to customer feedback as we evolve our menu with new choices for them to enjoy.’

This announcement comes after reports that McDonald’s Australia has teamed up with Maltesers to re-create an indulgent sweet treat – one that’s been off the restaurant’s menu since 2012!

Earlier this month, it was announced that the Maltesers McFlurry was making a comeback, much to the delight of sweet-toothed customers. This fan-favourite Macca’s dessert blends delectable soft-serve ice cream with the iconic chocolate, Maltesers, and chocolate fudge sauce. It's a match made in heaven.

According to McDonald’s Australia’s Senior Brand Manager, Liz Whitbread, desserts like the Maltesers McFlurry keep the customers ‘coming back’.

‘We know how much love there is for our McFlurry collaborations, so we are very excited to launch the Maltesers McFlurry and bring together our iconic soft serve with light and delicious Maltesers,’ she said before adding that the Maltesers McFlurry will surely ‘satisfy’ your dessert cravings every time.

McDonald's also recognised the customer demand for the fan-favourite treat and acknowledged adding some variety to the menu to meet their customers' requests.

Pity McDonald's didn't teach their young staff how to cook tastiest....we used to go and have a toastie and coffee once a week but finished up every time we got our toastie, I had to send it back to the kitchen as it wasn't cooked properly, instead of toast was like bread still. We've stopped our weekly visit now as got sick of having to tell them the toadtie wasn't cooked! Also instead of just toasting it a bit more each time the sandwich was thrown out and another one made..such a waste.

The Maccas near me used to have lovely ham and cheese toasted sandwiches, but now they use what I think is some stale bread (maybe left-overs) toasted, anyway ending up with a very tough toastie to cut or chew. They long ago served square toasties and these were always good. Also the cosy feeling has gone since the 'modernising' it's not as inviting inside anymore. Staff are so rushed and young, they do their best to please but I think they don't have enough time to make sure things are as they should be. Service has gone DOWN.
