Say goodbye to supermarket headaches with this mother's genius hack—you'll wish you knew sooner!

We've all been there, haven't we? You're on your way home, and you suddenly remember you need 'just one thing' from the supermarket. But if you're a parent with a sleeping child in the backseat, this simple errand can become a logistical nightmare. Waking a sleeping child for a quick grocery run is a scenario many parents would rather avoid. Fortunately, one clever mum has shared a solution that could revolutionise our shopping trips, and it's got parents everywhere nodding in agreement.

Imagine pulling up to a designated 'parenting bay' at your local supermarket, where a quick press of a button summons a helpful staff member to your car. You hand over a short list of items—let's say a limit of five—and they dash in to collect them for you. This mum's viral TikTok clip has sparked a conversation about how supermarkets could better cater to the needs of parents, especially those with young children.

The idea is simple yet brilliant. A 'parent's shopper' service would allow parents to stay with their napping children while still getting their essential shopping done. And for those willing to pay a small surcharge for the convenience, it's a small price for a big relief. No more waiting for hours in the car park or heading home to make do without that one crucial ingredient.

This suggestion has resonated with many, sparking a wave of support from other parents who have faced similar dilemmas. The comments section of the clip was filled with parents who have longed for a drive-thru grocery service or some form of quick-stop shopping solution. And it's not just parents who would benefit; such a service could also be a boon for the elderly, disabled, or anyone who finds traditional shopping methods challenging.

While some commenters pointed out existing services that might help, like Milkrun—an Australian app that delivers pantry essentials in under 30 minutes—or express click-and-collect options, the idea of a dedicated bay at the supermarket itself is a new twist on these services. It's a more personalized approach that could fill a gap in the current market.

The mum's idea has sparked a conversation about accessibility and convenience in our everyday shopping experiences. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best solutions come from those who face the challenges firsthand. Supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths already offer various online shopping and click-and-collect services, but there's always room for innovation, especially when it comes to making life easier for busy parents.

  • Commenters on the video supported the idea and offered alternatives, such as existing delivery services like Milkrun and Drive-thru stores.
  • Coles already offers options like online shopping and click-and-collect, but the mother argues that a parenting bay could be a logical and beneficial addition.

My friend lives in a suburb where there is a drive through corner store that sells supermarket items. You pull up in the drive through, hand the attendant a list of what you need and bags to pack items into if you choose, he/she goes and gets them, rings them up, you pay and drive away without ever having to get out of you car. This shop has been operating like this for years now and is very popular amongst the locals and an attraction to visitors.

What more do these entitled mothers want, some one to wipe their bum. What do they think their grandmothers (us) did, often with no car to get shopping home with a couple of toddlers.
Yes.
I'm from the public transport era.
My kids were well behaved from beginning to end. The knew better than to muck around on the bus, or in the supermarket.
I took my toddler grand children on the bus and train a few times. They loved it. Mind you. Ma made the rules of being out in this little group very clear. I guess things are different now.

Why should the rules be different. Children should know how to behave no matter where. Mine were angels when out, devils sometimes 👿 when home. Trouble is modern mothers won't say NO or correct their children when they're naughty.

Sounds like my brother & l growing up. We took the bus everywhere, Dad had the car. Mum pushed the pram with our sister in it & l held onto the pram & my brother walked on my left side, with a pair of plastic handcuffs keeping us from straying. 😄🫣😂. Mum always said we were too embarrassed to play up with the cuffs on. 🫣

They are asleep

The free to boot is practically this. It doesn’t take much to rack up $50 worth and some have instant delivery
