How far can a dollar coin go these days? Shoppers are flocking to Bunnings Warehouse to take their chances on scoring stylish storage containers for $1 each – and no, this isn’t a late April Fools joke.

One mum, Shelley, dropped by her local Bunnings store in Victoria and stumbled upon a trolley filled to the brim with the discounted crystal storage containers available in varying sizes.

She took a quick snap of the items and shared the images on the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, saying it was a matter of ‘being at the right place at the right time’ in order to successfully locate the highly sought after items.

When one customer asked whether the discount rate would apply to other Bunnings stores, Shelley said it’s unlikely.

“I have tried in the past and was told that clearance pricing is set by stores and they don't match it in other stores.” she responded.

Similar storage containers at Bunnings and other retailers can retail from $5 to $20 each. They are handy for hiding clutter and organising numerous items, including makeup, toiletries, toys, and skincare products.

Hundreds of users ‘liked’ the images posted in the Facebook group and expressed their gratitude for Shelley’s insight.

“Great score, I've had some great markdowns at Bunnings but I never see anything recently not even plants.” one fellow shopper wrote.

“Nice! I wish my Bunnings had good deals like this.” another added.

“I would have grabbed that whole trolly and wheeled it straight to the cash register.” a third teased.
