Save your cash this summer! Kmart shopper exposes the truth about this popular product!

As the mercury rises and the Australian summer kicks into full swing, our thoughts often turn to ways to keep cool and indulge in some seasonal pleasures. The beach, a shiny new pair of thongs, and the familiar jingle of the ice cream truck are all staples of the season. But what about when you want to bring some of that sweet, frozen delight into your own home? Enter the Kmart soft serve ice cream machine, a gadget that promises to churn out creamy treats without having to chase down Mr. Whippy. But is it the answer to our summer dessert dreams, or just another kitchen gadget destined to gather dust?

The Kmart soft serve ice cream machine, priced at $49, has certainly stirred up a debate among shoppers. The allure of homemade soft serve is strong, but does the reality match the fantasy? One Kmart enthusiast took to social media to seek opinions on the machine, sparking a flurry of responses from fellow customers.

The consensus? It might be best to keep your coins for the ice cream van. 'Don't do it!' cautioned one commenter, who lamented the machine's lengthy process, disappointing results, and the noise it made. Another shopper echoed the sentiment, sharing a tale of five failed attempts, a messy kitchen, and unfulfilled dessert cravings.

One customer detailed their fruitless efforts: 'We used milk, cream, sugar, milk powder, vanilla essence. Bowl in the freezer, made the mixture. Popped it in the freezer for 3 hours. Turned machine on and poured in the tiny hole. Let run for nearly 2 hours and never got any thicker. Very noisy. Don't waste your money.'

However, not all experiences were negative. A TikTok creator found a silver lining by using the machine to make a 'delicious' smoothie bowl. If you're a fan of Acai bowls, this could be a redeeming feature of the soft serve maker.

But perhaps the most sage advice came from a Kmart shopper who offered a simpler solution to the dessert dilemma: 'Go to the shop... buy a tub of ice cream… eat it.' They humorously outlined the all-too-familiar cycle of gadget addiction, from the initial excitement to the eventual realization that the effort outweighs the reward, ending with the gadget being sold for a fraction of the price on Marketplace.

For those still tempted by the idea of homemade ice cream but wary of the soft serve machine's pitfalls, Kmart offers a $15 mini ice cream maker. Influencer Amelia Liddy Sudbury praised the product, claiming it to be 'the best product Kmart has come out with in the past year!' She demonstrated how to whip up chocolate ice cream in just 15 minutes, with Kmart providing recipes to go with the item.

So, dear members of the Seniors Discount Club, before you rush out to add another gadget to your collection, consider the mixed reviews and weigh up the convenience versus the cost and effort. Sometimes, the simplest pleasures – like a store-bought tub of your favorite ice cream – are the sweetest. And remember, the joy of summer isn't just in the treats we eat but in the memories we make with family and friends.
Key Takeaways
  • Kmart's soft serve ice cream machine has received mixed reviews from customers, with some warning against purchasing it due to its performance.
  • Shoppers and a TikTok creator have shared their experiences with the machine, noting issues such as lengthy preparation times, noise, and difficulty achieving desired consistency.
  • One customer offered humorous but practical advice, suggesting it may be easier to simply buy ready-made ice cream rather than investing in the gadget and its associated efforts.
  • There is also a MINI Kmart ice cream maker available for $15, which has been praised by influencer Amelia Liddy Sudbury as a great product that makes ice cream in just 15 minutes.

I had really over ripped mangoes . I put them in the freezer containers that come with it . Placed them in the freezer overnight although 3 hours us enough. Then you whip the frozen fruit in the Ninja creamy for a beautiful natural and refreshing desert.

It is really worth the money

Hi, two of my favourites are Greek yoghurt mixed with melted chocolate and frozen in a bar or cookies silicone pan. Ripe bananas, mixed with melted chocolate and frozen, also makes a healthy icecream. I add chopped nuts, or fruit, and both recipes are heart healthy, not overloaded with sugar or fat.

My daughter bought the ninja ice cream maker. So I followed her lead Yes I could buy a lot of store bought but nothing tastes as good as this.
Imagine putting a tin of peaches in the container, adding yoghurt whizzing it up and getting three containers of delicious peach ice cream that is actually good for you ?
They were all the rage in the 70,s carnation milk ic cream in trays in the freezer.
Much better now.

The options are endless and so easy to make. I call it a magic machine.

I purchased this because of my daughters recommendation

Our bread machine got used twice. The deep fryer more often, but the waste was colossal. Bye bye to both. Cheaper to buy bread and easier to eat. The home made stuff had hard thick crusts. The deep fryer was saved from recycling by someone who swore they'd use it.

Love my air fryer and bread machine but agree about the crust I love making toast using it. Crispy crunchy

Better off buying these type of products from Aldi cheaper and then throw them away because they probably be broken after first use ,I got a pizza machine overheated and blew the house power, bread slicer couldn't cut though bread to the bin the list goes on and Kmart is on the same level

That's why I spend a bit extra and buy a better brand one

Best ice cream recipe I have ever made is …. Whip up 600 mls of cream with a touch of vanilla when sufficiently whipped add in a can of condensed milk then freeze. You can add fruit to this or smooshed up violent crumble bars or similar but just plain is perfect!!!

I’m going to try this recipe
So am l sounds yummy. When buying ice cream make sure it is what it is

yes, Carnation evaporative milk, a small amount of sugar, vanilla essence dissolved in very hot water. Eventually my Mum got an electric cake mixer and beat hers that way. If you don't want to have to freeze it add a larger amount of gelatin and store it in the fridge. I think the vanilla essence acts as a preservative. If you want chocolate icecream simply add drinking chocolate, chocolate quik or milo (all in powder form) Some people have a reaction to frozen food., either teeth or headache. Imagine the amount of sugar in Condensed milk. My Great Aunties made it and froze it in trays back in the 1950s - probably many years before that too.

We have what I call fry up nights, a chico roll, a couple of dim sims, a couple of chicken nuggets or chicken strips and a small hand full of potato gems, with sweet chilli sauce on the side.
Not that good for us but yummy and at least once a week if not more.

I'm not an influencer or am I ...I share recipes and products I have and love
A lot of us trust your advice Suzanne rose & your recipes are yummy. I have a Ninja air fryer & am thinking about adding another one. I’ve been wondering about their Creami. Might have to get one as well.

I've always made my own icecream, there is no need for any gadget. Simply whip a large jar of thickened cream, add one can so condensed milk and chosen flavouring then put in a container and freeze! Simple and delicious!!
